Football Recap: San Marcos Continues Road Dominance on Friday

San Marcos had won four straight road games dating back to last season and Zamar Reese did his part to make it five on Friday. The Knights blew past the Oceanside Pirates 52-27 thanks in part to Reese, who rushed for 236 yards and three TDs while picking up 13.1 yards per carry. Reese is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 106 every time he's taken the field this season.

Oceanside's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Anthony Barquinero, who threw for 169 yards and three touchdowns, and Neke Letuli, who rushed for 168 yards while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. The Pirates are 2-1 when Letuli posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 0-3 otherwise.

San Marcos' win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Oceanside, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 2-4.

Looking ahead, San Marcos will head out on the road to face off against La Costa Canyon at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Knights' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Oceanside, they will host Del Norte at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
