Softball Game Preview: Brush Beetdiggers vs. Weld Central Rebels

The Brush Beetdiggers will square off against the Weld Central Rebels at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Brush is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Northridge just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grizzlies.

Elizabeth Peckham was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Peckham wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jolie Tuck, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Tuck has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played.

Meanwhile, Weld Central fell victim to Eaton and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 15-0 to the Reds. The Rebels have struggled against the Reds recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Brush's loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Weld Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-13.

Weld Central's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Brush has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. It's a different story for Weld Central, though, as they've been averaging 9.7 hits. Given Brush's sizable advantage in that area, the Rebels will need to find a way to close that gap.

Brush took their win against Weld Central when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 24-9 score. Will the Beetdiggers repeat their success, or do the Rebels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
