Basketball Recap: Lena Walker's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Central Mountain over Dubois Central Catholic

Central Mountain was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the DuBois Central Catholic Cardinals, falling 60-40. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 332nd, while the Cardinals are ranked 75th).

Central Mountain's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lena Walker, who posted 17 points. Walker is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Taylor Doyle, who scored eight points in addition to seven assists and three steals.

Central Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for DuBois Central Catholic, their win was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-2.

Central Mountain didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 56-52 victory against Williamsport on the 11th. As for DuBois Central Catholic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 61-59 win against Redbank Valley on the 10th.
