Basketball Recap: Walden Grove Comes Up Short

After soaring to 63 points the game before, Walden Grove was a bit more limited in their matchup on Monday. They were dealt a 55-25 defeat at the hands of the Salpointe Catholic Lancers. The contest marked the Red Wolves' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

It was another big night for Sidney Anderson, who went 9 of 16 en route to 21 points and five rebounds for Salpointe Catholic. Jayci Nelson was another key player, putting up eight points and four steals.

Walden Grove's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Salpointe Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Walden Grove will square off against Ironwood Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Walden Grove is facing Ironwood Ridge at the right time seeing as Ironwood Ridge is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Salpointe Catholic, they will challenge Sahuaro at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Salpointe Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Sahuaro likes a good challenge.
