Softball Recap: Whitewright Tigers vs. Tioga Bulldogs
Whitewright proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 16) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the Tioga Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since March 29, 2024.
Courtney Brumley was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Zarah Prieto was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Whitewright is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Tioga, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.
Coming up, Whitewright will challenge Dodd City at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Tioga does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
