Basketball Recap: North Mustangs vs. Independence Patriots
If North was riding high fresh off their 61-31 takedown of South Mountain on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mustangs fell 64-55 to the Independence Patriots on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 57-55 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.
James Davis had another great game (as he tends to do), dropping a double-double with 19 points and 11 boards for Independence. North's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Independence, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Looking ahead, North will take on Carl Hayden Community at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Independence, they will face off against Youngker at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots will be up against the Roughriders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 61.25 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
