Football Game Preview: Hayfield Vikings vs. Lewiston-Altura Cardinals

Hayfield is 0-5 against Lewiston-Altura since August of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Vikings will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. Hayfield has given up an average of 34.4 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hayfield's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Fillmore Central on Friday. They were beaten by the Falcons 53-0. Having soared to a lofty 34 points in the game before, the Vikings' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Lewiston-Altura never let their opponents score on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat United South Central/Genesis Classical Academy 47-0. That 47 point margin sets a new team best for the Cardinals this season.

Lewiston-Altura's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 36.8 points this season. As for Hayfield, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Hayfield was taken down by Lewiston-Altura 57-12 in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Vikings were down 44-0.
