Preview: Hilmar Yellowjackets vs. Modesto Panthers
The Hilmar Yellowjackets will take on the Modesto Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Hilmar struggled with offensive rebounds on Monday (Sonora had 1200% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Hilmar took a 39-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sonora.
Despite their defeat, Hilmar saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Alicia Souza, who scored 13 points along with 9 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Souza scored a full 38.2% of Hilmar's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Gomes , who scored 9 points along with 6 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Modesto couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 33-23 hit to the loss column at the hands of Denair last Monday.
Hilmar's victory bumped their season record to 2-1 while Sonora's defeat dropped theirs to 1-1.
