Basketball Recap: Carter Takes a Loss

Carter has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 25 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a 71-22 loss at the hands of the Rialto Knights. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 500th, while the Knights are ranked 58th).

Leading Rialto to victory were Carrington Davis and Jackie Polk. Davis shot 5-for-7 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds, while Polk went 9 of 13 on her way to 25 points and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Polk has scored at least a third of Rialto's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Destiny Rabino, who posted 15 points and five assists.

Carter has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-3 record this season. As for Rialto, their victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-4.

Carter wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 57-11 win against Bloomington on the 10th. As for Rialto, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 75-20 victory against Eisenhower on the 10th.
