Wheat Ridge has gone 6-1 against Dakota Ridge recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Farmers will square off against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Dakota Ridge took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Wheat Ridge, who comes in off a win.
Wheat Ridge came out on top against Conifer on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Farmers blew past the Lobos 10-2. The result was nothing new for the Farmers, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Haley Cross made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Evelyn Detwiler, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Olivia Hoppe, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Dakota Ridge came up short against Golden on Saturday, falling 21-9. The Eagles have struggled against the Demons recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Madison Drake made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Bortscheller, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.
The victory made it two in a row for Wheat Ridge and bumps their season record up to 8-12. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Dakota Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.
Wheat Ridge might still be hurting after the 9-2 defeat they got from Dakota Ridge in their previous matchup back in September. Can the Farmers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
