Basketball Recap: Southwest EC Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Jenna Lomax and Jayzelle Cortez

Southwest EC was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the Brawley Wildcats, falling 57-31. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-7.

Southwest EC's loss came despite strong showings from Jayzelle Cortez and Jenna Lomax. Cortez posted 15 points, while Lomax put up eight points. That was a full 48.4% of Southwest EC's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

It was another big night for Bre Montano, who had 28 points for Brawley. The dominant performance gave Montano a new career-high in points. Kayleen Pacheco was another key player, putting up eight points.

Southwest EC's defeat dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Brawley, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-11.
