Soccer Game Preview: Legacy vs. South East

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Legacy challenge the South East at 4:00 p.m. on Friday... Legacy is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

South East better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Legacy really get things going. Legacy never let Bell onto the board and left with a 3-0 win on Wednesday. Give the Tigers' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Meanwhile, South East narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Garfield 1-0. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 357th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 1003rd), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Legacy has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five games. As for South East, their win bumped their record up to 12-5-1.

Legacy skirted past South East 1-0 when the teams last played on Monday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Legacy since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
