Baseball Game Preview: Eastern Eagles vs. Whiteoak Wildcats

The Eastern Eagles will square off against the Whiteoak Wildcats at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Eastern is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

Eastern took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over Meigs. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Marauders: they've now won four in a row.

Ethan Edwards spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

At the plate, Eastern's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Clayton Moore, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Another was Hunter Needs, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Whiteoak was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of New Richmond. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Wildcats who fell 4-2 when the teams previously met back in March of 2023.

Whiteoak's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Eastern, their victory bumped their record up to 15-8.

Everything went Eastern's way against Whiteoak in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Eastern made off with a 12-5 win. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
