It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Johnson had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They had just enough and edged the Los Fresnos Falcons out 23-20. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Jaguars.
Kael Hatnot was his usual excellent self, rushing for 170 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 57 yards.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Johnson's defense and their four sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Seamus Gosey and Charles Steward, who racked up all four sacks between them.
When it comes to explaining why Los Fresnos lost, don't look at Robert Pineda. Despite the final result, he threw for 143 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 123 yards. Diego Torres was another key player, gaining 122 total yards and a touchdown.
Johnson has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Los Fresnos, the defeat snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 10-2 record.
