Basketball Recap: Natalie Martinez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead San Ysidro over Castle Park

San Ysidro came up into this matchup off a tough 37-point defeat last Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Castle Park Trojans by a score of 37-34 on Friday. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

San Ysidro's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Natalie Martinez, who posted 15 points. The dominant performance gave Martinez a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimberly Valdez, who put up nine points.

San Ysidro's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Castle Park, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.

San Ysidro wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 45-16 victory against Chula Vista Learning Community Charter on the 21st. As for Castle Park, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 40-35 win against Sweetwater on the 22nd.
