Softball Recap: Sierra Comes Up Short

Sierra extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 18 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-17. They came up short against the Sand Creek Scorpions, falling 20-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Scorpions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 back in September.

Sierra saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lilly Castro, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI. Another was Maritza Enriquez, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

As for Sand Creek, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-14. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

On Sand Creek's side, Jaida Moody was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Abigail Knapp was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Sierra wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 18-2 loss against Falcon on the 9th. As for Sand Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 1-0 victory against Mitchell on the 9th.
