Basketball Recap: Lassen Comes Up Short

Lassen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a hard 63-48 fall against the West Valley Eagles. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Grizzlies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 71-38 last Friday.

When it comes to explaining why Lassen lost, don't look at Kinley Somerville. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. Those ten boards gave Somerville a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mya Morales, who went 5 of 7 on her way to 14 points.

West Valley was led to victory by Emily Huddleston and Allie Enyart. Huddleston went 7 of 16 en route to 21 points along with eight assists and seven boards, while Enyart went 7 of 13 on her way to 20 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Rainessa Matthews, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 10 points and six boards.

Lassen's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for West Valley, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Lassen and Anderson will meet on January 14th for a tough Bear Battle. As for West Valley, they will head out to challenge Central Valley at 7:30 p.m. on January 14th. West Valley is facing Central Valley at the right time seeing as Central Valley is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
