Recap: Brockway Rovers vs. DuBois Beavers
The Brockway Rovers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 43-32 to DuBois. Brockway was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as DuBois apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played on December 1st.
Several Rovers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kalina Powell, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Powell pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Maria Buttery, who scored five points along with five rebounds.
Brockway has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for DuBois, their win bumped their record up to 1-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brockway will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Elk County Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024. The timing is sure in Elk County Catholic's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Brockway has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season. DuBois will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Warren at 2:30 p.m. on January 13, 2024.
