Soccer Game Preview: Centennial vs. King

The Centennial Huskies and the King Wolves will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. King took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Centennial, who comes in off a win.

Centennial took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand Corona a 1-0 shutout. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 208th, while the Panthers are ranked 430th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Centennial's one-goal win came courtesy of Alex Olmedo, which was the first she's scored this season.

Meanwhile, King's game on Thursday was all tied up 2-2 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They came up short against Santiago, falling 6-2. The defeat continues a trend for Wolves in their matchups with the Sharks: they've now lost seven in a row.

King's loss dropped their record down to 10-8-4. As for Centennial, their win bumped their record up to 12-8-2.

Centennial came up short against King in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 2-0. Can Centennial avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
