Football Game Preview: Dorman Cavaliers vs. Blythewood Bengals + Official Tickets

The Dorman Cavaliers will square off against the Blythewood Bengals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Blythewood will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Dorman extended their winning streak to three last Friday. The Cavaliers breezed past Eastside to the tune of 49-12. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cavaliers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Eagles are ranked 116th).

Dorman got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Meek Slydell out in front who threw for 205 yards and three TDs while completing 85.7% of his passes. Nick Means was another key back, rushing for 53 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Blythewood walked away with it. They took down the Blue Eagles 42-23 on Friday. The game was the first time the Bengals have beaten the Blue Eagles on their field since September 18, 2015.

Dorman better keep an eye on James Veasey. He was instrumental in Blythewood's win, rushing for 183 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per carry, and also throwing for 138 yards and one TD. Those 183 rushing yards gave Veasey a new career-high. Another rusher making a difference was Landyn Strong, who rushed for 88 yards and one score.

Blythewood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 302 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Blythewood didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Marlon Glover, Daquan Davis, and Michael Ford picked up one apiece. Davis got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Dorman's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Blythewood, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.
