Basketball Recap: Minden Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

Minden won the last time they faced Elm Creek and Myla Emery did her part to make sure it happened again. The Whippets strolled past the Buffaloes with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 70-51 with plenty of help from Emery, who went 13-for-16 on her way to 31 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Minden's points.

Despite the loss, Elm Creek still got an impressive performance from Chelsea Kottich, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 26 points and six boards. Kottich is crushing it when it comes to points: she's scored at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Ashlyn Hellriegel was another key player, going 5-for-8 en route to 10 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Minden has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, Elm Creek fell to 5-1.

Coincidentally, Minden and Elm Creek will both be playing St. Patrick's the next time they take the court. The Buffaloes will host the Irish at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Whippets will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on the 29th.
