Basketball Game Preview: Oakland Wildcats vs. Oakland Tech Bulldogs

Oakland is 0-10 against Oakland Tech since January of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Oakland Wildcats will challenge the Oakland Tech Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m.

It was a proper cat-fight when Oakland faced off against Lick-Wilmerding on Monday. Oakland was beaten by Lick-Wilmerding 62-30. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 621st, while the Tigers are ranked 190th).

Meanwhile, Oakland Tech sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-49 win over St. Ignatius College Preparatory on Monday.

Oakland Tech is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.2 points per game. As for Oakland, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.

Oakland was dealt a bruising 84-53 defeat at the hands of Oakland Tech in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Oakland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
