Recap: Monache Marauders vs. Golden West Trailblazers

Make it nine blowout wins for the Monache Marauders this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Golden West 69-17 at home. Given Monache's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while Golden West is ranked 825th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Monache to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alisha Verdejo, who scored 21 points along with five assists and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Verdejo has scored all season. Shelley Andrade was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with eight rebounds.

Despite the loss, Golden West had strong showings from Danae Banuelos, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and two steals, and Tie Morgan, who scored two points. That was a full 76.5% of Golden West's points, marking the 17th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Golden West struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Monache racked up 15 assists.

Monache's victory bumped their record up to 16-2. As for Golden West, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monache will take on El Diamante at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. El Diamante is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Golden West, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Mt. Whitney at 7:30 p.m.
