Football Recap: Salisbury Hornets vs. Northwest Cabarrus Trojans
Salisbury had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-6 to make it four. They were dealt a 44-14 defeat at the hands of the Northwest Cabarrus Trojans. The Hornets were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Although Salisbury took the loss, they still got scores from Darrius Jefferies and Isaiah Foxx.
As for Northwest Cabarrus, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.0 points on average over those games.
Leading Northwest Cabarrus to victory were Titus Troy and Hudson Irwin. Troy rushed for 139 yards and one score on only 14 carries, while Irwin threw for 189 yards and three TDs on only 17 passes. Troy's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 114 rushing yards.
