Softball Game Preview: Alcovy Tigers vs. Jackson County Panthers

The Alcovy Tigers will face off against the Jackson County Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for Alcovy: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Jackson County has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.

Alcovy came up short against Habersham Central on Tuesday, falling 9-2.

Destiny Floyd made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Ra'Niya Smith, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Jackson County got the win against Winder-Barrow on Tuesday by a conclusive 9-1. Considering the Panthers have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Adalyn Mitchell spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emery Schiffmann, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Miabella Lee, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Jackson County's win bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Alcovy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-20.
