Basketball Recap: Freire Charter Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Freire Charter can now relate to. They came up short against Audenried on Thursday, falling 60-38. While losing is never fun, the Dragon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Audenried are ranked 20th).

Shayla Smith continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Audenried, putting up 25 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least a third of Audenried's points. Senaya Parker was another key player, posting 14 points.

Freire Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 16-10. As for Audenried, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-7.

Looking ahead, Freire Charter will take on Archbishop Wood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Audenried, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 65-52 victory against Imhotep Charter on the 23rd.
