Basketball Recap: South Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

On Monday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, the South Spartans beat the King/Drew Golden Eagles 49-44. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 399th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

South's win bumped their record up to 13-9. As for King/Drew, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.

South won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Wiseburn- Da Vinci at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South is facing Wiseburn- Da Vinci at the right time seeing as Wiseburn- Da Vinci is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for King/Drew, they will face off against George Washington Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. George Washington Prep will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something King/Drew surely won't give up without a fight.
