Softball Recap: Aztec Gets the Win

While Aztec's win against Gallup wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers skirted past the Bengals 8-6. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Bengals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Kamora Henry made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Sydney Lee was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Cami Lucio, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Aztec hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gallup struck out 11 times.

Aztec's record now sits at 17-5. As for Gallup, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-12.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Aztec will face off against rival Kirtland Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Gallup is set to take on their familiar foe Shiprock at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
