Basketball Game Preview: Pacheco Panthers vs. Livingston Wolves

Pacheco hasn't had much luck against Livingston recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Pacheco Panthers will host the Livingston Wolves at 7:30 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Pacheco was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 60-54 to Grace Davis. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Pacheco had strong showings from Sasha Siemiller, who posted 15 points in addition to eight steals and six boards, and Mary Tava, who had 17 points. Tava has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more blocks the last 11 times she's played. Ashley Jimenez was another key player, putting up five points.

Meanwhile, Livingston beat Johansen 39-30 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolves.

Livingston's win came from a few key players Pacheco will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kasandra Soria, who earned eight points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Dalia Castro, who scored four points and ten boards.

Pacheco's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Livingston, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Pacheco has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 34.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Livingston struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.3 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Pacheco was able to grind out a solid win over Livingston when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 42-35. Does Pacheco have another victory up their sleeve, or will Livingston turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
