Basketball Game Preview: Costa Mesa Mustangs vs. Woodbridge Warriors + Official Tickets

The Costa Mesa Mustangs will face off against the Woodbridge Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Costa Mesa is leaving town to face Woodbridge after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The Mustangs were just a bucket shy of victory on Wednesday and fell 38-37 to Irvine.

Despite their defeat, Costa Mesa saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Emi Kamikihara, who posted nine points and eight rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Kamikihara has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Leilani Quero, who earned six points and four steals.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Woodbridge's strategy against Western on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Warriors blew the Pioneers out of the water with a 60-16 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Warriors had established a 41-point advantage.

Costa Mesa took a serious blow against Woodbridge when the teams last played back in November of 2019, falling 67-23. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Mustangs were down 40-10.
