South Effingham came tearing into Thursday's contest with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Statesboro Blue Devils with a sharp 12-0 win. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 13-0 win on Thursday.

Sydney Minshall and Alyssa Martin did most of the damage at the plate: Minshall went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Martin went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Justine Nevels was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

South Effingham hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matchups.

South Effingham's record now sits at 12-1. As for Statesboro, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

South Effingham will face off against Glynn Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mustangs 1.2, the Terrors 1.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Statesboro, they will challenge Bryan County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Redskins have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
