Recap: Redwood Rangers vs. Porterville Panthers
The Redwood Rangers lost against the Porterville Panthers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Redwood fell to Porterville 47-43. Redwood has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Sydney Calderon was Redwood's leading scorer, having posted four points.
Porterville was led to victory by Sare Ortiz and Ryleigh Schoonover. Ortiz scored six points along with seven rebounds and six steals, while Schoonover dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. Schoonover is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least nine every time she's taken the court this season.
Redwood's loss dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Porterville, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Redwood will take on Monache at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Monache will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Redwood surely won't give up without a fight. As for Porterville, they will head out on the road to challenge Golden West at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Porterville is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Golden West in California (Porterville is ranked 362nd, while Golden West is ranked 840th).
