Recap: Fairfield Falcons vs. Rodriguez Mustangs
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Vanden, the Fairfield Falcons were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They snuck past Rodriguez with a 43-38 victory. This was payback for Fairfield, who suffered a 54-49 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Fairfield found their leader in underclassman Mariah Giron, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Giron has scored all season. Mayana Williams was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Fairfield is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Rodriguez, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-14.
Fairfield on the road again on Friday and play against Armijo at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Armijo comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last eight games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Rodriguez, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Vanden at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Vanden presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Rodriguez in California (Vanden is ranked 98th, while Rodriguez is ranked 722nd).
