Soccer Game Preview: Morgan County vs. Oconee County

Morgan County is 0-7 against Oconee County since March of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Bulldogs will challenge the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Morgan County sitting on six straight wins and Oconee County on four.

Morgan County had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the three-goal drubbing they dealt Academy for Classical Education on Tuesday. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 4-1 margin over the Gryphons. The result was nothing new for Morgan County, who have now won eight contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Oconee County kept a clean sheet against Parkview on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 2-0. Oconee County's winning goal came courtesy of Jack Stanger.

Morgan County pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 22 goals over those four games. As for Oconee County, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.

Morgan County came up short against Oconee County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 2-0. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
