Baseball Game Preview: Mt. Bethel Christian Academy Eagles vs. Osborne Cardinals

The Mt. Bethel Christian Academy Eagles will head out to challenge the Osborne Cardinals at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Friday. Mt. Bethel Christian Academy put the hurt on South Cobb with a sharp 14-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Mt. Bethel Christian Academy.

Meanwhile, Osborne had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Mt. Zion on Friday as they made off with a 12-2 victory. Considering the Cardinals' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Joshua Tattershall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Osborne is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-14 otherwise. Tattershall was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Gilford, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Bryant Edge was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Mt. Bethel Christian Academy's record is now 6-18. As for Osborne, their record now sits at 9-16.

Mt. Bethel Christian Academy suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Osborne when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
