Basketball Recap: Port Barre Takes a Loss

Port Barre lost against Opelousas back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Red Devils were outmatched by the Tigers and fell 83-18. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 314th, while the Tigers are ranked 79th).

Port Barre's defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Opelousas, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-5.

Port Barre didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-25 loss against Eunice on the 18th. Opelousas and East St. John will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least 55 points in their last four games.
