Basketball Game Preview: Lawndale Cardinals vs. Immaculate Heart Pandas

The Lawndale Cardinals will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Immaculate Heart Pandas at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Lawndale has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Lawndale is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging an 85-43 victory over Beverly Hills. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 21 points or more this season.

Kalani Pearson and Telayia Fuller were among the main playmakers for Lawndale as the former went 14 of 18 on her way to 33 points along with five boards and four steals and the latter went 9 of 19 en route to 21 points in addition to eight boards and seven steals. Fuller is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Amira Townes, who posted 17 points and five steals.

Lawndale smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Immaculate Heart's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 52-40 to Notre Dame (SO).

Lawndale pushed their record up to 10-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.3 points per game. As for Immaculate Heart, their loss dropped their record down to 10-2.
