Baseball Recap: Orono Comes Up Short

Orono extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 2-6. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mattanawcook Lynx. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Riots of the 9-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

As for Mattanawcook, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average this season.

For Mattanawcook's part, the team relied heavily on Avery Jordan, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Tyler Mahaney, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Orono has already played their next matchup, a 12-4 loss against Bucksport on the 13th. As for Mattanawcook, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 13-0 win against Stearns on the 13th.
