Basketball Recap: Kensington Beats Prep Charter for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Kensington hadn't done well against Prep Charter recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Kensington KENSINGTON TIGER walked away with a 36-23 victory over the Prep Charter Huskies. While the KENSINGTON TIGER didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-9), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Kensington was led to victory by CRYSTA JENKINS and MELAGRO MERCADO-OQUENDO. JENKINS posted ten points, while MERCADO-OQUENDO had ten points. Another player making a difference was NYAILIA TOSSIE, who put up five points.

The win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 16.2 points per game. As for Prep Charter, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Kensington will head out on the road to challenge Sankofa Freedom Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Kensington's defense has only allowed 16.2 points per game this season, so Sankofa Freedom Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Prep Charter, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Frankford at 3:15 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
