Basketball Recap: Monterey Takes a Loss

If Monterey was riding high fresh off their 64-33 takedown of Everett Alvarez last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Monterey Dores came up short against the Watsonville Wildcatz on Monday, falling 55-31. While losing is never fun, the Dores can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 769th, while the Wildcatz are ranked 233rd).

Monterey has also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Watsonville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Watsonville beat Monterey by a score of 55-31 on Tuesday.
