Baseball Recap: Carrollton Takes a Loss

Carrollton made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Pawnee, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Hawks fell just short of the Indians by a score of 4-2 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Hawks have suffered since April 24, 2025.

Eli Cox was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Cox wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Reed Schnettgoeke, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Carrollton has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season. As for Pawnee, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.

Carrollton will venture away from home to square off against Brown County at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hornets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Hawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Pawnee, they will welcome Edinburg at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
