Softball Recap: Highland Prep West Drops Highest Score of Season Against Madison Highland Prep

Highland Prep West's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They put the hurt on the Madison Highland Prep Heat with a sharp 40-19 win. The HORNETS' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Magic Warner was incredible, getting on base in five of her eight plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and four runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (four). Another player making a difference was Sofia Serrano, who scored six runs and stole five bases while getting on base in six of her seven plate appearances.

Warner wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Highland Prep West lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Highland Prep West's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-11. As for Madison Highland Prep, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Coincidentally, Highland Prep West and Madison Highland Prep will both be playing Fountain Hills the next time they take the field. The Heat will head out to face the Falcons at 3:45 p.m. on Monday, while the HORNETS will host them at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
