Softball Recap: Papillion-Lavista Wins Going Away Against Norfolk

12 must be Papillion-LaVista's lucky number: they beat Norfolk with that score not once but twice on Thursday. The Monarchs blew past the Panthers 12-2. The Monarchs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 games by six runs or more this season.

Reese Haberer was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Maizey Carpenter, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Papillion-LaVista was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .542. They are a perfect 14-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Papillion-LaVista and bumps their season record up to 21-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Norfolk, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-15.

Looking ahead, Papillion-LaVista will head out to square off against Omaha Central at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Monarchs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season. As for Norfolk, they have already played their next matchup, a 10-0 defeat against Skutt Catholic on the 27th.
