Basketball Recap: Philadelphia Performing Arts Falls to South Philadelphia in First Game of Season

Philadelphia Performing Arts had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of the South Philadelphia Rams by a score of 48-46.

Leading South Philadelphia to victory were Jeszel Twyman and Justine Cardona. Twyman posted 19 points, while Cardona put up 18 points. Twyman continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of India Brooks, who had seven points.

South Philadelphia's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2.

Philadelphia Performing Arts will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy at 3:15 p.m. on January 13, 2025. After both having extra time off, South Philadelphia and Thomas A. Edison will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 3:15 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
