Basketball Recap: Sewickley Academy Comes Up Short

Sewickley Academy played a tough match on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 52-10 defeat at the hands of the Aquinas Academy Crusaders. The contest marked Sewickley Academy's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

It was another big night for Tess Duer, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine steals for Aquinas Academy. Duer is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Elliot Keverline, who went 5 for 8 on her way to 11 points and eight rebounds.

Sewickley Academy dropped their record down to 2-3 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Aquinas Academy, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

After both having extra time off, Sewickley Academy and Western Beaver will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 6:30 p.m. on January 2, 2025. As for Aquinas Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-32 defeat against Central Valley on the 18th.
