Basketball Recap: Valley View Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Valley View and Palos Verdes squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Valley View had to settle for second. They fell 51-44 to the Palos Verdes Sea Kings. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 311th, while the Sea Kings are ranked 71st).

Despite the defeat, Valley View had strong showings from Jada Booten, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 22 boards, and Mason Long, who posted 19 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. Long is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last ten games she's played.

Even though they lost, Valley View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 13 consecutive games.

Valley View's loss dropped their record down to 16-14. As for Palos Verdes, they pushed their record up to 19-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Valley View does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Palos Verdes, they have already played their next match, a 60-54 victory against Beckman on the 15th.
