Basketball Recap: Leilah Horshaw Key Part of Team Effort in Crusaders Win

There's no place like home for Bishop McDevitt, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 48-40 victory over the Linville Hill Warriors on Friday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Crusaders' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 286th, while the Warriors are ranked 108th).

Bishop McDevitt got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Leilah Horshaw out in front who posted 11 points and eight steals. Horshaw has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Elle Osevala, who had 14 points and three steals.

Linville Hill lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ellie Rishel, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten boards. Courtney Good was another key player, putting up 14 points and three steals.

Bishop McDevitt's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points over those games. As for Linville Hill, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-2.

Bishop McDevitt has already played their next matchup, a 71-26 victory against James Buchanan on the 10th. As for Linville Hill, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-41 win against Covenant Christian Academy on the 10th.
