Preview: Pacifica vs. JSerra Catholic
The Pacifica Mariners will square off against the JSerra Catholic Lions at TBD on Wednesday. Both teams beat their previous opponents by a single goal, so this matchup might be just as contested.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Pacifica walked away with it. They never let the Mustangs onto the board and left with a 1-0 win on Saturday. Pacifica wouldn't have won without Natalie Oca, who scored the game-winner.
Meanwhile, JSerra Catholic has not lost a match since January 11th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Saturday. They had just enough and edged Edison out 1-0.
Pacifica pushed their record up to 15-2-4 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 36 goals over those 11 contests. As for JSerra Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 11-3-6.
Pacifica suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to JSerra Catholic when the teams last played back in December of 2018. Can Pacifica avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
