Softball Game Preview: Fairfield Trojans vs. Fort Madison Bloodhounds

The Fairfield Trojans will challenge the Fort Madison Bloodhounds at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Fairfield was handed a six-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out West Liberty 6-5.

Fort Madison not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since June 26, 2024 (when they won 13-1). They put the hurt on Keokuk with a sharp 16-4 win. The Bloodhounds have beaten the Chiefs the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Chiefs has come to flipping the script.

Fairfield is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Fort Madison, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
