Soccer Game Preview: Lanier vs. South Gwinnett

The Lanier Longhorns will head out on the road to take on the South Gwinnett Comets at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Lanier is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Berkmar on Tuesday. The Longhorns lost 8-4 to the Patriots. Lanier have struggled against Berkmar recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, South Gwinnett hadn't done well against Central Gwinnett recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Comets were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Black Knights. Considering South Gwinnett have won six contests by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Central Gwinnett with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Rahjae Nelson, Ronaldo Barnett, and Shiloh Murphy.

South Gwinnett's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-9-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 22 goals over those four matches. As for Lanier, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10-1.
